Summer Search Scholarship Deadline

Summer Search Scholarship 2020

Deadline: June 19th, 2020 11:59 PM

Every year, Summer Search New York provides the graduating class an opportunity to apply to the Summer Search Scholarship, a one-time award for students to use towards their post-high school plans. For the Class of 2020, Summer Search New York is providing a one-time award of $1,000 to 5 students.

Eligibility:
•Student must graduate by June 2020. Aviation HS students who will be in the 5th year program for the 2020-2021 school year are NOT eligible for this scholarship - you will be able to apply next year.
•Student will be enrolled or in process of enrolling in a post-secondary pathway (college, job-training program, trade school, etc.).
•Student must be actively engaged with Summer Search since entering the program. Actively engaged looks like checking in with your mentor consistently, attending most mandatory events, and worked with Nancy at least once during senior year. Students who have gone months without communicating with your mentor, have been on a contract more than once or have not met with me this year, you should speak to your mentor about your eligibility before starting the application process.

To apply, students must answer the following prompt: What is your vision for your future?
You can address the prompt in the format you prefer, so long as you explicitly answer the question. For example, students can either:

1)Write an essay/poem/biography/etc. (600 words max.)
2)Create a short video/documentary/etc. (5 min max.)
3)Paint/draw/sculpt/etc. (5 pieces of art max. Additionally, you must attach a short explanation of your artwork)

Students are not limited to the examples above. There is no right or wrong way to go about answering the prompt!

What are the judges looking for?

•Creativity - How can you make your submission stand out?
•Honesty - Do not share a story you think the judges want to hear. There are no right or wrong answers.
•Clarity - It is important for the judges to understand the message you are trying to get across. If the message is not clear, it is possible that others may misconstrue it.

We will not accept any late submissions unless students communicate their concerns with Nancy prior to the deadline. You can contact her at nbrito@summersearch.org.
