About the Program

Through College Now, qualified students get an early introduction to the college environment and a jump start on college coursework by taking credit-bearing college-level courses at the Lehman College campus. This experience helps students build the academic skills that are necessary to be successful in college.

  • This is an intensive summer program that will provide you with a college prep experience, allow you to improve your academic skills, and leave you with easily transferrable college credits!

Programming will be M-TH, beginning at 10am and going until between 1-3pm, depending on the course you take.

All available courses are worth 3+ college credits. The courses tentatively available for Summer Search students to participate in will be BIO173: Human Biology, ENG111: English Composition, MAT126: Quantitative Reasoning, MAT132: Introduction to Statistics, and MAT172: Precalculus -- which must be taken in tandem with MAT108: Trigonometry. This course list will be updated in February — stay tuned!

  • This is a local program that will take place in New York City and does not include meals or overnight accommodations. Metrocards will be provided by College Now on the first day of programming.

  • This is an open enrollment program, which means non-Summer Searchers will be able to join your group and you’ll meet folks from diverse backgrounds. There may be a couple of other Summer Searchers attending the same program, but most people will probably not know each other!

  • Phones and other electronic devices are available for use. A laptop is not required but may be helpful to programming.

  • This program will take place in New York City and metrocards will be provided by College Now on the first day of programming. If you need metrocards to attend the pre-program orientation, talk to your mentor!

  • We recommend having $35-100 for personal spending. You may want to buy lunch or snacks!

  • There is no packing list necessary for this program. Be sure to ask your mentor or the College Now team for advice on what to wear/bring to your class.

The experience is definitely going to be hard. There is a certain amount of faith that students need to have in order to persevere through the experience, but students will leave really understanding what their capabilities are.
