Summer Experience checklist
Complete all these items to prepare for your Summer Experience! Please note, many items need to be completed by a specific date; otherwise, you may not be able to participate in your experience. Dates and deadlines for all Summer Program-related events will be accessible on our Events page.
Before Being Placed on a Summer Experience
Meet with your mentor to discuss your goals
Research the available programs on our website!
Talk with your parent/guardian about what trip or activities you might be interested in doing
Fill out the Junior Experience Rating Form or Sophomore Experience Rating Form
Attend all required group and individual mentoring meetings
Once Placed on a Summer Experience
Ensure Summer Team has all updated sizing needed for equipment
Attend the mandatory Summer Experience Application Workshop with a parent/guardian
Apply for forms of identification if you need them (NY REAL ID, passport, working papers, etc.) and send a copy of your ID and insurance card to your mentor
Get a physical from your doctor
Complete all required paperwork for your assigned experience by the deadline to avoid being bumped to the waitlist or removed from attendance
Fill out a Request to Change Trip Form, if necessary, by the deadline
Attend your mandatory Goodbye Group. These are assigned by trip — check out our Events page for the dates.
Expenses to Students / What Families Cover
Personal toiletries/medications
Items on packing list that Summer Search does not cover (”What You Bring”)
Fees for NY REAL ID and passport (if needed)
Baggage fees at the airport (if applicable)
Transportation to/from the departure location (airport, office, Amtrak station etc.)
Food on travel days
Lunch for some programs
