About the Program

All-Summer Search Program

This program pushes you to experience vulnerability and reliance on community while you live on a biodynamic farm and participate in a multi-day sea-kayaking expedition.

  • Begin the first week at Kroka Village, where you’ll practice kayaking in the pond and work on the farm to harvest and prepare food for your upcoming journey. Week two, depart for Whitehall, NY while making daily stops to visit museums/historical sites, to make camp, and to enjoy the beauty of the Green Mountains and Adirondacks.

  • Transportation to this program will be via plane. Summer Search staff will meet you at the airport and accompany you to security. Once you have arrived in Vermont, program staff will meet you at the airport and chaperone you to the program site.

  • While you'll begin this trip by staying in yurts, this is a camping trip — after your first week, you will be sleeping in tents, and you will not have access to a bathroom. Don’t worry! Summer Search and Kroka will provide any equipment you’ll need, and the program staff will teach you how to feel at home in the outdoors.

  • This program will be NYC Summer Searchers only. It’s a great opportunity for you to meet and get to know other students in our program!

  • You will not be able to use your phones or any electronic device that connects to the internet once you arrive at Basecamp with program leaders. However, limited communication with family/friends back home is available.

Parents and Guardians are always able and welcome to call Summer Search's Summer On-Call Service if necessary. Leaders always have working cell phones and service, and we can reach out on your behalf in case of emergency.

  • No spending money is necessary for this program, but you may keep cash or credit cards on you if you’d like — you may want to buy snacks along the way!

  • This will be released in March. Check back in then!

Growing up, you have to learn to embrace your “weirdness” — your uniqueness is not a bad thing.
