Black Lives Matter. Summer Search stands together with you in the fight against systemic racism and oppression in this country. En Español.

Throughout the US and around the world, people are protesting systemic anti-blackness, racism, and police brutality. Many black folx are grieving—including our Summer Search staff and participants—and may need space and time to process that grief and anger.

Most recently sparked by the murder of George Floyd (and Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade, and countless other black Americans before them), protesters are advocating for justice. Enough is enough.

Please see the bottom of this post for resources to explore in the meantime and for contact info in case of any urgent need to talk.

You may feel very clear about what is happening right now. You may have lots of questions.

You may know a lot about the history that has gotten us to this point. You may be wondering, “How did we get here?” Or “Why is this happening?”

You may want to talk to your mentor about everything. You may NOT want to talk to your mentor—especially if they’re white (or white-passing).

You may want to take the day off work. You may not be able to take time off work.

You may know how you feel and what you want to do. You may be wondering, “How can I deal with what I’m feeling?” Or “What can I do?”

Many of us are still learning and searching for answers, too. Here are some resources to support you as you search for your own. We’re grateful you’re here.
